World Premiere and Production Team
The anime’s first episode had its exclusive world premiere at the Anime Messe Babelsberg 2024 event in Berlin, Germany on July 20. Fans were thrilled to get a sneak peek of what’s to come.
Helming the project is Yūji Yanase, known for his work in “By the Grace of the Gods” and “In the Land of Leadale,” directing at Maho Film. Sawako Hirabayashi is handling the series scripts, bringing her experience from “Delicious Party♡Precure” and “Wolf Girl & Black Prince.”
Additionally, Yūko Watabe and Eri Kojima, who have worked on “Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady with the Lamp” and “I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss” respectively, are the main character designers. Moe Hyūga, celebrated for his composition in “The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten” and “Steins;Gate 0,” is composing the music.
A Unique Storyline
The narrative centers around a girl named Alicia who despises “goody-two-shoes” heroines. Her dream becomes reality when she is reincarnated as a villainess in her favorite otome games. Determined to be history’s most notorious villainess, she works tirelessly towards her goal. Ironically, the more she embraces her villainous role, the more the prince grows fond of her.
From Novel to Manga
Ōkido launched the series on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō (Let’s Become Novelists) website in December 2018. With illustrator Jyun Hayase, Ōkido debuted the light novel series in 2020. As of March 15, the series’ sixth volume has been released in Japan.
Akari Hoshi took the story further by launching a manga adaptation in Kadokawa’s B’s-LOG COMIC in September 2020. The manga’s fourth compiled volume was published in August 2023.
The series enjoys immense popularity, with over 850,000 copies in circulation, both physically and digitally.
