It’s so gross to even think about a nasty rat skulking inside your mouth to get to your teeth.
Episode 9 was extremely heart touching and a sweet episode, so adorable and cute. Once again we get to see Shizuno and Yabashira. I was really glad to see them another appearance in the series. It’s always nice to see some cute old characters again. I really wanted to see an episode with any of the old characters that Golem and Somali met in the past episodes. Thankfully the wish came true and we did not just get to see any other character but one my favorite. I’m happy to see them joining Golem and Somali again.
But honestly, this episode was also a little slow compared to the previous episodes but it doesn’t mean that this one was not enjoyable. The thing that doesn’t make the episode look dull even after being too slow is the amazing and fascinating world building and the interesting characters with such a heartwarming relationship with each other. That is the reason why not a single episode seems boring in this series even if there is not much action in it. Although the most important things that occurred in this episode were Somali getting anxious because of her tooth and the baking scene. This anime can never bore anyone as the sweetness and heartwarming moments are enough to amuse its viewers.
Before the oni duo make their appearances, the episode was purely sweet and cure with lots of heartwarming moments. Golem and Somali ends up in an old-fashion tree house to hide while it was raining while Golem describes to Somali what tappers are and what they do. She requests to Golem to read her the book she found there, while going to bed. They realize while reading it that I actually is a cook book and she tarts craving for all those dishes while he reads those recipes to her in loud and clear voice. Though simple but this scene has some importance as we have never seen Golem cooking for Somali. In previous episodes we have been witnessing them eating in the restaurant or ready mad food from cans. This time around we saw him cooking for the first time and he did this for Somali. It was so sweet. Luckily, the souflee was nicely baked It was so good that Somali’s eyes filled with tears because how good that food was that was made with love by her dad. She’s really lucky to have a dad like Golem. The happiness on her face was priceless. It was truly a heartwarming moment
Whenever something like happens between them, it always leaves me in tears as we all know how this going to end up. I really wish they could live together like this forever. But as the days are passing by, their bond is getting stronger but they are also running out of time.
After those heartwarming and tearful moments, they continue their journey and moved forward towards Bygone City where Shizuno is searching for a dentist to assist him in his research. It has everything to do with Somali getting worried about her shaky tooth that occurred for no reason. It was not a big deal but it was quite interesting. This series has made Somali somewhat realistic child character as an aching tooth is always a big deal for the children of her age especially when they feel that they are about to lose a tooth as it always suddenly. So it was kind of funny to see her freaking out on such small issue and was more hilarious to see her reacting when the mouse dentist explained her his job. I’m pretty sure that even viewers were intrigued to hear him telling about his profession. It is something that we have seen multiple times in our lives but it was fascinating to see the mouse getting inside the mouth of his patient to fill up the gap in her teeth with the help of fluid. Everything about this world is amazing.
But through this scene I was anxious no matter how interesting and fascinating it was. Somali getting anxious about her teeth was cute but I was thinking about the fact that her teeth can expose her human identity. She could have been caught by group of monsters that she ran into or the mouse who looked closely into her mouth working on it. He has been in this profession for a long time and he probably knows about teeth of all kind of species. It was possible that he would recognize her.
There was nothing to be worried about. The mouse assured Somali. He told her that she has lost her milk tooth and soon it will be replaced by a new permanent tooth. He also provided them a tooth holder to keep her all milk teeth when they are replaced with the new ones. But then I felt sad just to think that probably Golem would not even live that long.
Thankfully the episode ended with nothing bad. All of my fears were wrong and no one caught Somali. Although I was expecting something like that to happen but I’m happy that this episode turns out to be lighthearted and sweet. They also get to stay in the lodge for free when Golam and Yabashira agreed to guard for the owner of inn. Shizuno and Golem and didn’t sleep while Somali and Yabashira rest all night. Shizuno asked Golem about why he is acting as her dad if Somali is a human. On which he responds that he was meant to be and the next episode will start with something related to this statement. It seems like the next episode will show something from the past, probably from their earlier days of journey or even before that. But it’s going to be exciting. This series is one of the best one in this season. There is not a single episode of this anime that doesn’t make you smile but also makes your eyes tearful. You can’t expect I the next episode will be cute one or a sad one. But one thing is certain that it won’t end with the smile on our face.
