Babylon – Episode 2

[the_ad_group id="23498"]

After ending the previous episode with the death of Fumio, this episode opens up with some Seizaki’s bittersweet remembrance of time when Seizaki was discussing the role of public prosecutor with Fumio. With no surprises, Fumio’s death is probably going to be considered a suicide due to lack of facts pointing towards a murder, but police doesn’t grow suspicion when the case he is investigating, someone committed suicide and then he himself, commit suicide soon after, without even having given hints he would.

The plot clearly widens in this episode, it’s so soon, too! I’m both attentive and thrilled, to be sincere. So, we learn in this episode that the woman Fumio was investigating resides in a building owned by an organization that assists one of the candidates participating in the upcoming election, but she was purposely involved in prostitution with someone assisting the opposite candidate of the same election. Anyways, the episode had some confusing moments but continuing to the most meaningful group of moments, the inquiry of a woman named Emiko who also was a part of this situation through sexual favors.

Babylon Episode

The interrogation scene was quite slow compared to the other scenes. The arrangement of the scenes is quite impressive The way the episode moved forward with fast pace, jumping from one event to another then slowed down on one scene which occurs in a dark quiet room with three people,  the prosecutor, the woman and the typist. The interrogation slowly grew intense with the advancement of the episode. Starting with some simple questions to mixing and comparing them with the events occurred and how they are associated with her.

Emiko grew bolder and confident with the advancement of the interview. Her boldness gets to the points where Seizaki starts getting annoyed of her counter question. She seems to be a part of some sort of agency or initiative because that part of the scene really got interesting. It’s hard to decide where that put her in this whole situation because she seems to be in control. The way she was asking question is really smart as the whole interview was in her control. What noticeable in this scene is she might have detected flaws in him during interview because Seisaki can easily be provoked when confronted with something immoral due to his utmost moral grounds. She was calm while he was disturbed. This whole situation was quite impressive. Still can’t decide where this show heads but for scenes like these I’m definitely going to stick to it.

The episodes ends with Emiko leaving without having the confession signed. We are till not sure how she get way. We may get to learn it when Seizaki will report this to his superior. Seems like there is something his superiors are hiding from him since he has not been enlighten about the fact that high profile person who is also involved in the case will be present in the meeting where he is going to brief about the interview. Although his superior have been supporting him through the case but the involvement of the suspect in the investigation doesn’t sound good and seems like a threat to him. Guess the influence of these two public figures is going to become a big obstacle in his investigation in a way he never would have expected. The story may lead to the point of justice vs. corruption but that doesn’t sound bad to me.
