On Tuesday it was declared by the public television broadcaster NHK that an anime is going to be made based on the manga Maiko-san Chi no Makanai-san by Aiko Koyama. At a later date more information is going to be disclosed by NHK. On its website an advertising video clip is also being telecast.
The manga’s story is set in Kyoto’s hanamachi geisha quarter. Here, after geisha finish their work late around evening time, they go through the late evening resting at a cabin to get ready for the following day. The story focuses on Kiyo, an Aomori local who functions as a cook in a geisha hold up in Kyoto in the wake of completing middle school and venturing out from home. She additionally has a companion named Sumire who is a maiko, or disciple geisha.
In December 2016 the manga was commence in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine by Koyama. On March 12 the 13th assembled book volume of the manga was issue by Shogakukan.
Ppreviously this year in January the manga was awarded as the Best Shōnen Manga award in the 65th Shogakukan Manga Awards.
