Akkun’s personality:

As the leader of his tiny band of criminals, Atsushi exudes a strong feeling of confidence. Atsushi looks out for his friends in his role as the group’s leader. He wanted to fight in Takuya Yamamoto’s place because he knew Takuya wasn’t a skilled fighter and didn’t want Takuya to get hurt.

He could see no other way out of the enslavement; therefore to free himself and his companions from it, he was prepared to kill Masataka Kiyomizu.

Atsushi became an administrator in Toman in the present after Tetta Kisaki acquired control of Tokyo Manji Gang and the initial jump. When Atsushi pushed him onto the train tracks, he began to think Takemichi might be able to travel through time, and he begged Naoto Tachibana to save him. Atsushi decided to take his own life since he could no longer endure following Tetta’s demands.

History of Akkun:

Akkun injures Masataka Kiyomizu in the original timeline and is then taken into custody. He changes to being a no-name punk after being freed.

Toman arc:

Atsushi and his companions decide to have hamburgers after getting off the train. Atsushi remarks being shocked that Takemichi’s cousin is the head of Shibuya Third Middle School when he is seated in the restaurant.

According to Kazushi, if third-years show up, they will omit Masaru’s name so that no one would bother them. Everyone is surprised when Takemichi asks what they mean, and Makoto then reminds him that they will fight the second years and hype themselves even more.

When they arrive at the school, there are no second years to be found. Takuya wonders if they are trying to avoid them, and Kazushi supposes that they fled when they heard them approaching. A short while later, third years led by Masataka Kiyomizu show up and claim they have heard the second years are seeking them but that they are currently away on a school excursion.

When Kazushi mentions Masaru, the criminals chuckle and admit that Masaru is their errand boy. Takuya and his friends are then physically assaulted by Masataka’s crew after they are informed that they are not Tokyo Manji Gang soldiers. They set out for home after getting beat up, but Takemichi leaves them midway to go see Hinata.

Years later, Atsushi rose through the ranks at Toman and was given control of a hostess bar. Takemichi makes contact with Atsushi after discovering that he is in the elite echelon and requesting to meet Manjiro. Naoto follows Takemichi, but Atsushi brings him to the roof so they may chat privately.

He admits that he is aware that Naoto is Hinata’s younger brother and works with the police. Atsushi also says that she should have perished because he pushed him into the railway tracks, but Naoto protected him because she must have known it was going to happen. Atsushi questions whether Takemichi was able to contact Naoto in the past and request assistance.

Although Atsushi thinks that is crazy, there isn’t any other explanation. Given that Atsushi is his friend, Takemichi finds it hard to accept that he would attempt to kill him. Since they haven’t seen Manjiro in a while, Atsushi discloses that he is Tetta Kisaki’s soldier and that everyone in Toman obeys him.

Atsushi explains how Manjiro changed after Ken Ryuguji passed away and begs Takemichi to travel back in time to save everyone including Manjiro. Atsushi then falls off the roof and passes away, which causes Takemichi to start wailing.

Moebius arc:

After Toman’s battle with Moebius and Takemichi’s stay in the hospital, Kazushi and the others pay him a visit at home. They are taken aback to see Ken enter as well, and when Manjiro appears, Manjiro and Ken end up fighting.

Atsushi receives a call from Hinata on August 3rd, during the festival, informing him of Ken’s situation. After that, Makoto, Takuya, and Kazushi are gathered by Atsushi, who moves toward the festival. They can arrive just in time to save Takemichi and Ken from being attacked by Masataka’s gang.

They are easily trounced, but motivated by Takemichi’s example of refusing to give up after challenging Masataka to a battle; they keep fighting Masataka’s gang until the ambulance arrives. As the ambulance transports Ken to the hospital, the others wait for the procedure to be finished and join everyone in rejoicing when they learn Ken will survive.

Atsushi didn’t work for Ken and didn’t commit himself since he lived and Tetta didn’t rise to the position of number two in Toman. Atsushi extends Takemichi an invitation to a salon after he arrived in the present. Takemichi queries whether he is now a hairstylist, but Atsushi reaffirms that he is only an assistant.

However, he phoned him today because, as promised, they will allow him to cut hair starting next month, and he wants Takemichi to be his first client. When Takemichi experiences joy, he begins to sob, prompting Atsushi to remark that he is, as usual, a crybaby.

Takemichi visits Hinata Tachibana alongside Naoto Tachibana after receiving a call from the latter. Once Takemichi and Hinata are by themselves at the park, Hinata goes back to the car and Takemichi uses the restroom. Atsushi rams into their automobile on Kisaki’s command. Atsushi is shocked that Takemichi isn’t in the car when he arrives, but he retorts that he is Kisaki’s soldier and is wary of him. He begs Takemichi to save everyone as his automobile erupts, killing him instantly.
