1. Diamond no Ace

The series follows Eijun Sawamura, a baseball pitcher with an unusual pitching style that naturally causes the ball to move unpredictably at the plate.

Sawamura plans to go with his friends to a local high school and play baseball to the best of their abilities. Seido and their main rivals attempt to help the upperclassmen make it to nationals during the summer tournament.

Some time later, Sawamura and his teammates, Furuya Satoru, Kominato Haruichi and Miyuki Kazuya, lead a new team, along with a few returning faces, through the fall tournament.

Ace of Diamond Act II continues to follow Sawamura and the team as they prepare to compete for the summer tournament. Sawamura and Furuya compete with national level teams, being able to identify their own strengths and weaknesses and further mature their pitching style, all the while they are competing with each other to earn the coveted ace title.

The main part of the story takes place at a high school in Japan. Beside the dorms is the main school building where classes take place, which also houses the cafeteria on the ground floor.

Childhood and adolescence are two important themes in Little Busters!. The opening video of the visual novel starts with two lines written in English: “What `Adolescence` do you have?” and “Do you remember `Childhood`?”.

Riki Naoe, the male protagonist, has four childhood friends with whom he grew up together through adolescence and still hangs out with when the story begins. Thus, friendship is another theme presented in the form of Riki`s relationships with his friends in high school, and is thought to be irreplaceable.

The story follows Minami Kawashima who, as a favor to her childhood friend, Yuki Miyata, takes over as manager for the Hodokubo High School Baseball team when Yuki is hospitalized with an illness.

With no previous experience managing a team, Minami ends up picking up a copy of Peter Drucker`s business management book, Management: Tasks, Responsibilities, Practices, and starts to manage the baseball team like one would manage a business, with the goal of reaching the nationals.

In 1925, after being told by a baseball player that women should become housewives instead of going to school, two 14-year-old Japanese high school girls named Koume and Akiko decide to start a baseball team in order to prove him wrong.

The first book in the series opens in Taishō 14 (1925), introducing Koume, who is the 14-year-old daughter of a yōshoku restaurant owner, and a student at a local girls` academy. One day, Koume`s friend, Akiko, asks her to join in an all-girl baseball team and have a match against a boys team.

The second book is set in the summer of Taishō 14. Koume, Akiko, Manoe and the rest of the nine members of the Baseball Girls continue to face off against numerous all-boy teams, and have trouble dealing with the fast balls thrown by the boys.

Hiromichi Kojima, the Lycaons` star batter, forms a training camp in Okinawa to try for his last attempt at a championship after 21 years.

When the minor league pitcher training with Kojima becomes injured, him and Kojima`s trainer goes to look for a replacement, but run into trouble by participating in the “One Outs” game, where a pitcher and batter duel 1-on-1 with money on the line.

The next day, Kojima arrives to avenge his teammates and meets Tōa Tokuchi, who appears to have no special pitching skills, but defeats Kojima easily and causes him to enter seclusion to re-evaluate himself as a professional player.

This time, Tokuchi experiences his very first loss and offers Kojima his right arm to have it broken. Soon, Tokuchi meets Saikawa, the greedy owner of the Lycaons who only cares about the team making a profit.

Mihashi was the previous ace pitcher in his middle school`s baseball team, but it seems that he only got the position because his grandfather was the owner of the school.

But in truth Mihashi is really a hardworking and skillful pitcher, and the main reason why his team always lost all the games is because of bad cooperation, because his teammates never talked about the game with him, and they did not try to come up with a plan or strategy to fight against their rivals.

Mihashi then transfers to Nishiura High School with plans of quitting baseball because he thinks he is not good enough to succeed at it, though he still loves the game deeply.

After fracturing a finger in a junior high school game, Takao Taniguchi is unable to play baseball. After entering Sumitani High School, he is constantly watching the baseball club even though he is unable to play. At the recommendation of the captain, he resigns from the soccer club and joins the baseball club.
