In the world of demons, a young girl Kotoko Iwanaga has brought them together. She minimizes the gap and play the role of a peacekeeper between the spirits and humans but she is tangled I the worldly problems of her own. She wants to have a romantic relationship with Kurou Sakuragawa who has some strange powers due to a curse that he got when he devour two yokai as a kid. They come close to each other and their bond get stronger that blooms through issues of arising in the yokai world. They both are perfect for these duties when the encounter yokai of a dead celebrity which was resurrected from death by Kurou’s cousin. Now Kotoko and Kurou have the task to defeat the threatening yokai to save the world while having no harm to their relationship.
In/spectre is filled many mysteries which makes it compelling and intriguing because the subject of yokai is itself mysterious and the entire anime revolves around them. The subject of yokai is interesting and cam from the ancient Japan’s legends. The pot of In/spectre stands out due to the combination of these mysterious elements.
The character of Kotoko Iwanaga is another interesting thing to watch in the anime. Despite of being disabled with aye and leg, she is very powerful and confident but at the same time she has some issues that girls of her age can relate to like dealing with crush.
On the hand the male protagonist is not as interesting as Kotoko despite being an essential part of the story. He doesn’t seem to be equally serious with his relationship with Kotoko but that doesn’t mean that he didn’t forget his ex-girlfriend. Despite of having such an intriguing past story, his character seems a little plain. His character could have been a lot better and interesting but is not written well.
The antagonist of the series, Steel Lady Nanase is one of the major parts of the series but things around her seems to repeat a lot and there is not much to offer. Her character does not have much depth and the number of episodes she had showed up seems quite wasted. It would have been better if there were more antagonists.
The pacing of this series is another drawback that needed some consistency. Some things were not given as much time as they supposed to take like the scenario of Steel Lady Nanase being resurrected by Kourou’s cousin but then too much time was given to things that was required. Many scenes were not followed by any thing important especially hotel scenes and they were pointless and could have been cut from the series without creating any confusion as they made no difference.
The story of In/spectre was god but wasn’t executed well and could been improved. Since the story was mysterious and interesting, the mystery fans should give it a try as they will definitely find it very interesting.
