For many years every person in the world has been enjoying the facility of smartphone which has become very common among the people of all ages and no one seems to take it something very precious. It’s not just a communication device that people use for calling and send text message but it has everything that a person would want like camera to take photos and make videos, internet, music, interesting videos to watch and even video games. The older people keeps saying that video games has made the children transformed into zombie, so, Darwin games has taken the very concept, making the participants to join the game physically. When the game starts the player is provided with a superpower, called “sigil.”

A high schooler Kaname Sudou participates and get the sigil that gives him the power of making any thing appearing in front of him that he has held in the past like 9mm. Although he is an amateur, but he gets popular among the other players as he wins against the best player, Shuka. They team up and make a group to win every challenge thrown on them. Here are the reasons why you should not missed this amazing anime.

Although the anime is set in Japan but it is relatable to entire world. In the past decade, the usage of mobile phones, video games, internet have drastically increased and has caused many health problems worldwide (It’s not an opinion or just an assumption, neither this article is about the subject but it has been proved by many medical authorities all around the world) The addiction for has reached to the point that developed countries like China and South Korea have opened rehabilitation centers for all those who are addicted to this consumption. The anime series Darwin’s Game have acquired the notion and took it to the next level.

As we mentioned earlier, the players must involve physically in the game rather than engage in it through their screens. If they won’t play it physically they will have to die. As it has been recorded that many car accidents have been occurred due to sell phones, the concept of Darwin’s game is actually a wise idea that makes the audience think about the consequences of our addiction for the digital consumption.

But, the anime does not just depict the negative side of this digital technology but it also shows some positive sides as well. Our cell phones have the entire world in it which makes us feel more connected to the world than ever. The game and the internet allows us to make new allies as well as foes. For instance the protagonist in the anime fights against many participants of the game in the beginning of his journey all these players who are initially his enemies including Shuka, Ichiro, Sui, Rein and Ryuji later become his friends as he realizes that it is not a good thing to kill them for no reason. As they engage more in this game and takes part in a campaign event, they realizes that these phones and some of its features like GPS can be a life savior.

The anime emphasize the notion of teamwork. The influence of ‘nakama’ or friends has been repeatedly seen not only in manga and anime but in real life as well. When you are surrounded by the circumstances that can cost you your life, is it not better to have allies by your side to strengthen your ability to figure out the solution to get out of this situation. You would definitely rely on these trustworthy people and work together with them. Two is better and powerful than one and three is better than two and so on. Kanama is a simple school boy who pays the game considering the moral values he has been taught and so he is capable of befriending with the players he meets and when they start to get benefit from the sigil of each other, the game does not just teach them teamwork but also shows how it is beneficial.

Apart of the notion of the excessive use of cell phones and the positive/negative consequences of it, Darwin’s Game feature some very relatable characters. Kaname is just a boy but his frankness and his moral values makes the audience relate to him. The teenagers — or older people who once were teenagers — have been through the time when they things were simple for them but as they grow up they learn the complexities of everything in the world.

Throughout the journey of Kaname in the game we see the authenticity in his innocent nature of a teenager as he seeks the most positive side in everyone while been caught up in a terrible situation. It’s something we all can relate to. As far as the rest of the characters goes, they all are in this game for a certain reasons and they all have their own reasons for participating in Darwin’s Game. For instance, Ichiro is playing this game to win the prize money that he wants to use in the treatment of his ill daughter. A parent would definitely understand his situation.

Reasons to Watch Darwin’s Game

Obviously, it’s hard to imagine that thgings we see in our cell phones can harm us physically in the real world as this anime depicts but Darwin’s Game show that the things that we download can harm us and even cause death as shown in the beginning. Like we mentioned earlier, cell phones is by the most phenomenal invention. We can’t even think about the time when the youngsters and children were just happy with pagers and the people of that time did not even imagine the concept of Darwin’s Game.  The cell phones are the invention to facilitate us and provide comfort in our lives but, things like cyberbullying, hacking, and the cybercrimes, there are some deadly consequences that we also have to face.

In the anime we see Kaname getting involved in these circumstances as soon as he begins the game and immediately lost a very good friend. The kind of the person and being the protagonist of the series he takes the duty of solving all problems. He also make some foes in his journey but he meets some people that become his friends too.
