My Hero Academia S4 episode 3: Review

[the_ad_group id="23498"]

Recalling from the last episode, we ended up with Midoriya copying All Might reaction and displeasing Sir Nighteye. He suddenly starts pointing out mistakes in the impression, although the reasons for doing that were unusual. You can think of this scene as fighting each other for who is the true and biggest fan of All Might.

Of course, Deku makes use of his huge encyclopedia about All Might and reminds the exact event that he took his All Might face expression from. They shows us that exact moment, where All Might saves a drowning in a river where the boy’s quirk turn the water into vinegar. Which in turn got All Might’s face a little different then it’s usual. So, Nighteye and Midoriya have a brief discussion about it. Mirio is relaxed after seeing them talk since Midoriya was not able to make a good first impression and now he think there is still hope for him to get the internship.

Until Nighteye assesses that if he is really useful to the agency by putting a little to his abilities. Asks Midoriya to take the seal stamp from him and stamp the form directly. Seems easy enough until Nighteye’s quirk is revealed which is called ‘foresight’ if he’s felt someone and looked them directly in the eyes he can foresee the person’s future actions, which lets him think of a counter.

While examining the face expression of Midoriya he was able to accomplish both of the terms. But even though all the odds were stacked against Midoriya and despite all the insults Nighteye throws at him, he still tries his best. Nighteye knows everything about Midoriya, which includes All Might’s decision of choosing him as his successor. Nighteye believes that All Might made the wrong choice. As for the successor of One for All, Nighteye wanted Mirio to get this position.

After several attempts, Midoriya loses the challenge, but admired by the act of Midoriya to not step on any of the All Might merchandise while not stopping at thinking about how to steal the stamp, Nighteye gives him the permission to take on the work-study at the agency but the main reason for it was to demonstrate the wrong decision made by All Might on passing All for One to Deku. So even though he won the chance to work-study, Nighteye does not approve him.

In the meantime, all the students at the school are happy for Midoriya but they feel a little envious because of all the conditions that teachers have whipped on the work-study. A handful of students were lucky enough to get the chance to work-study, among them is Tokoyami who got selected by the number 3 hero, Hawk. Also Kirishima along with Tsuyu and Ururaka were called in the third years’ dorm by a member of the Big 3. Out of curiosity and excitement those three move towards the third year’s dorm and we are about to find out where it heads. I’m not sure bout Tsuyu and Ururaka, but manga readers’ praises a lot about this arc involving Kirishima. So I’m really looking forward to this arc.

Now we get to Sir Nighteye’s office where they are planning the first day on their job, which involves around gathering information, on Overhaul. His identity is known to them also how he contacted league of villains but it was not revealed that they know his quirk yet. It is worth mentioning Sir Nighteye is unable to touch Overhaul to use his quirk, this thought is just really chilling.

After the end theme they show us the glimpse of the Midoriya in his first job. The girl which was showed to us in the opening and ending theme gets a proper introduction, her name is Eri while she runs out of an alleyway and collides with Deku while being chased by Overhaul. This scene is actually from the future and we don’t know much about how this turned out like this. But hopefully Midoriya will find a way to get out of this situation.
