Ahiru no Sora Episode 2: Review

[the_ad_group id="23498"]

This anime brings yet another exciting episode. The character development in this episode is quite amazing and I’m getting really impatient to see how much it is going to grow. But on serious note, it seems like each character will have its time in building the character and eventually creating a team which we all want to see.

Prodigy vs practice is the main focus of this episode. In daily life a lot of us have experienced this factor. We’re all been told that practice makes a man perfect and we follow this rule, but someone with less practice gets an upper hand over us and you start thinking that if all that efforts was really worth it. And, that’s what the first half of the episode made us think, that Sora is a basketball champion. But later into the episode we find out that Sora is probably the one who practiced more than anyone. Height was the main obstacle for Sora to overcome in his basketball career. One thing to note here is Sora has never been depressed or dejected about it, except for just the flashback that he is discussing with his mom, with all the bully and mock he has faced, it doesn’t look like he takes them personally. Of course, we may get to see more of it in other episodes since it has only been 2 episodes. But what the most important lesson here is how Sora made his biggest weakness into his greatest strength. When everyone underestimates you and isn’t really bothered by your presence, that’s when you show your potential and shock them all.

Another character that is worth admiring is Mamoharu. It was to interesting to explore more about him. This character caught my attention from the first episode. Although, Sora and Chiaki overshadowed his character. But when we watch Sora more, we learn more about Momoharu. He is passionate is passionate basketball player more than anyone else (except for Sora, but it still has to be discussed further after watching more episodes). But, what made the game he loves became against him? When he was in middle school, in order to practice more to overcome his weakness of depth perception, he used to stay longer after practice for free throws. This aspect was quite motivating to watch as it shows how determined he has always been for this game.  He wanted to be the best player of the team. But unfortunately, sometimes no matter how much time you spend in practice, some unfavorable things occurred or surrounds that it become very obvious why someone would just quit something they love to do and are passionate for. I’m sure it would feel really bad if something like this happens in our real lives. How his character development has been shown is really amazing which gives hopes for other characters as well.

We can’t wait to see how his character will grow further. Hopefully he will again start playing basketball as he used to play. It going to be roller-coaster rid of emotions, struggle and achievement and we look forward to it.
